Where to plant rose Frisco
Choose a sunny position where the flowers can stand out against green foliage. Plant alongside purple or blue flowers for a striking contrast, or combine with white flowers for a softer planting scheme.
Frisco can also be grown in a large, deep patio container with drainage holes. Container-grown roses need regular watering and feeding, as their compost dries out more quickly than garden soil.
Allow approximately 50–60 cm between plants, with enough space for air to circulate around the foliage. This is a planting-distance recommendation, rather than a measurement of mature spread.
Planting your bare-root rose
Unpack your rose promptly on arrival and keep the roots moist until planting. Soak the roots in water for a few hours before planting to rehydrate them.
Prepare the soil with well-rotted organic matter and dig a hole wide enough to accommodate the roots without bending or crowding them. Backfill gently, firm the soil and water thoroughly.
Plant during the dormant season when the ground is neither frozen nor waterlogged. If conditions prevent immediate planting, temporarily heel the roots into soil to keep them covered and moist.
Caring for your Frisco rose
Water regularly during dry periods while the plant establishes, directing water towards the soil rather than the leaves. Feed with a suitable rose fertiliser according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
Remove faded flowers to encourage further flowering. Prune in late winter or early spring, removing dead, damaged and crossing stems.
Frisco can be susceptible to powdery mildew. A sunny, well-ventilated position, consistent watering and regular checks of the foliage will help you maintain good growing conditions.
Flower colour, size and flowering times may vary with weather, plant maturity and care. Outer petals can become paler as the blooms age.
What you will receive
You will receive a dormant bare-root Frisco rose, supplied without a pot or surrounding compost. It may have little or no foliage on arrival.
The photographs show the variety in flower. Your bare-root rose will not arrive in bloom; it will develop new growth and flowers as it establishes and the growing season progresses.

Delivery is available to UK mainland addresses only.
Frequently asked questions about rose Frisco
Is Frisco the same rose as Pamela?
Yes. Pamela is an alternative name for the Frisco rose.
How tall does the Frisco rose grow?
Frisco reaches approximately 60–100 cm at maturity, depending on soil, growing conditions and pruning. This is its expected mature height, rather than the size of the bare-root plant supplied.
Does Frisco flower more than once?
Yes. It flowers in successive flushes during the growing season. Removing faded blooms and providing suitable watering and feeding can encourage further flowering.
Is Frisco strongly scented?
No. Its fragrance is light. Choose it primarily for its bright yellow flowers, elegant bloom shape and suitability for cutting.
Can I grow Frisco in a pot?
Yes. Choose a large, deep container with good drainage and provide regular watering and feeding.
Will my rose arrive with flowers?
No. This product is supplied as a dormant bare-root rose. The photographs illustrate the flowers produced by the variety during the growing season.
